R.G.C.E.T was registered in 2004 with the main objective of
creating a community of people committed to the values
and practices of Mahatma Gandhi. The Trust is dedicated to
spreading the values of social enlightenment and broader
principles of human rights, secularism, democracy and
social justice.
The prime achievement of the Trust is the establishment of the Chair for Gandhian Studies & Research in the University of Calicut in 2004. The Chair as an institution imparts Gandhian ideals and philosophy among the youth and students in particular. The Chair also seeks to strengthen leadership qualities and capacity development among the youth and women by organizing various programmes such as seminars, workshops, camps, awareness classes etc.
Another venture of the RGCET is conducting a Post Graduate Training in Counseling which seeks to help people discover and realize their potential to make positive contribution to the society in which they live and work. This is very relevant to each and every member of our contemporary society, men and women alike, young or old, employed or unemployed, rich or poor.
The PGTC is designed to train individuals to develop the required essential professional knowledge, understanding, skills and competencies in the field of counseling with special emphasis to Gandhian philosophy. The programme will help mould the participants/trainees to understand the basic foundation of human behavior, adjustment mechanisms and adaptive functions of human behavior
RGCET's Vision is to mould a new generation of youngsters and adults with higher level of knowledge and commitment towards essential field of life skill and individual well being based on Gandhian philosophy.The Mission of RGCET is to conduct various life skill education and extension programmes. By doing so RGCET will help the participants/ trainees to discover and realize their potential to make a positive influence within their community. Social transition related personal adaptation and adjustments always pose a challenge to everybody in our society. The PGTC envisages preparing and training individuals to develop greater knowledge, understanding and skills in the field of counseling with special reference to Gandhian philosophy.
There will be practical sessions in the form of mock counseling, field counseling camps etc. In addition to the above practicals trainees have to complete one month internship from an Approved counseling/Clincial/Psychological/Rehabilitation centres at their own expenses. This internship is subjected to continuoes and term end evaluation.
RGCET will supervise admission formalities. Fee structure will be decided by the Trust as per rules and regulations in force from time to time.
The Academic Committee will prepare the academic calendar/activity planner which will be made available to the participants/trainees at the time of admission. The academic calendar will include all the significant activities, important dates, schedule for submission of assignments, contact classes, examination calendar etc.
Evaluation of the courses will be conducted by the faculty on the basis of internal assessment and year end examination performance. 20% of the marks will be decided by internal evaluation and the remaining 80% by the year end examinations for theory. It will be 50% for internal and 50% for external in the case of practicals.
The performance of every participant/trainee in each paper will be evaluated in terms of percentage of marks.
Each participant/trainee will be required to do one Assignment/Book Review/Debate/Seminar/Presentation or Case Study for each theory paper. Assignments/Book Reviews after evaluation will be returned to the participant/trainee. The trainer will define the expected quality of the above in terms of structure, content, presentation and the like to the participants/trainees. This will be considered for internal marks along with weightage for attendance.
A separate minimum of 40% marks, in Internal and External, is required for a pass both in the theory papers and in practicals.
Grading: A Plus (90% and above) A(80% to 89%) B Plus (70% to 79%) B (60% to 69%) C Plus (50% to 59%) C (40% to 49%)

Professional Certificate - ₹500/-
The successful candidates will be eligible to be accredited by the Indian Counselors Association (ICA) with membership and registration which will entitle them to pursue a bright career as a practitioner in counseling.
